{"id":369,"date":"2011-10-12T12:43:09","date_gmt":"2011-10-12T19:43:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/markccrowley.com\/?p=369"},"modified":"2011-10-12T12:43:09","modified_gmt":"2011-10-12T19:43:09","slug":"your-best-boss-ever-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-wmplo.xyz\/mark-c-divi5\/your-best-boss-ever-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Your Best Boss Ever?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-389\" title=\"Your Best Leader Ever!\" alt=\"Lead From The Heart And People Will Follow\" src=\"https:\/\/staging-wmplo.xyz\/mark-c-divi5\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/best-leader-ever3.jpg\" width=\"216\" height=\"180\" \/>I\u2019d like for you to think back on all the bosses you\u2019ve had in your life and identify which one of them was the best ever.<\/p>\n<p>Once you have that person in mind, take a look at these two lists of attributes and see if one isn\u2019t more descriptive:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"one-half first\"><strong>Leader A<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Inspiring<\/li>\n<li>Appreciative<\/li>\n<li>Natural<\/li>\n<li>Candid<\/li>\n<li>Constructive<\/li>\n<li>Generous<\/li>\n<li>Requesting<\/li>\n<li>Sharing<\/li>\n<li>Valuing<\/li>\n<li>Unselfish<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"one-half\">\n<p><strong>Leader B<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Controlling<\/li>\n<li>Envious<\/li>\n<li>Artificial<\/li>\n<li>Calculating<\/li>\n<li>Destructive<\/li>\n<li>Petty<\/li>\n<li>Demanding<\/li>\n<li>Hoarding<\/li>\n<li>Exploitive<\/li>\n<li>Selfish<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>It\u2019s not much of a stretch for me to predict the greatest leader you\u2019ve ever worked for is best described by the qualities of Leader A.\u00a0 These are the higher consciousness-related characteristics of people who lead from the heart \u2013 and to great effect as you can attest.<\/p>\n<p>Now I\u2019d like for you to consider the descriptor \u201cHigh Expectations\u201d and determine under which list it best belongs \u2013 Leader A or B?<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->I\u2019m hoping you\u2019ve realized the answer is\u00a0<em>both<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>People with the characteristics of Leader B inherently have high expectations \u2013 they\u2019re routinely demanding (albeit in a self-serving kind of way).<\/p>\n<p>But the point of this post is to dismiss the idea that people whose leadership fosters the well being in workers somehow have lower demands of what gets accomplished.\u00a0\u00a0 They don\u2019t and they shouldn\u2019t.<\/p>\n<p>Think back again to the most extraordinary leader of your life.\u00a0 Did you achieve more under that person\u2019s direction or\u00a0<em>less<\/em>?\u00a0 Were you more \u2013 or\u00a0<em>less<\/em>\u00a0\u2013 motivated to work longer hours, display initiative, and bring passion into your work?<\/p>\n<p>I already know the answers to these questions.\u00a0 People instinctively react positively to what is supportive to them and negatively to what is not.\u00a0 It\u2019s a law of nature.<\/p>\n<p>What the greatest leaders already know is that caring for employees is a natural catalyst for high engagement.\u00a0 And since engaged workers thrive by making meaningful contributions, these same leaders know to routinely raise the bar on their expectations.<\/p>\n<p>Some business leaders will continue to believe the idea of leading from the heart is a warm, fuzzy \u2013 and inherently less productive \u2013 approach.\u00a0 However, the results your team achieves will prove otherwise when you do these two things:\u00a0 emulate the leadership attributes of the best boss you ever worked for (Leader A attributes) and then set targets well above those set by your doubting peers.<\/p>\n<p>Sharing these posts with friends is cool! \u00a0If you would like to receive them directly, please \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/staging-wmplo.xyz\/mark-c-divi5\/subscribe\/\">sign up here!<\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>PS: \u00a0After this article was posted, all of the social media counters on our website mysteriously reverted to zeros &#8212; and all historical share counts were lost.<\/em><strong><em>\u00a0\u00a0All links now are working!<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I\u2019d like for you to think back on all the bosses you\u2019ve had in your life and identify which one of them was the best ever.
